As my first novel by Wulf Francu Godgluck, I was awestruck right away. This style, writing, plot, characterisation...it was perfect from page one.

First off, we're set up with an incredible Prologue that really had the wheels spinning. I was drawn into the characters right away. From the very first second I fell in love with broken, lost and confused Colt and the sweet, innocent flirt that Beo could be. I love everything about both of them. The vulnerability, the teasing, the way they interact with each other and all the small nuances that make them such incredible characters to read.

I easily fell right into this story, which was unusual, because I'm not a big fan of first person. I find a disconnect there that didn't happen with this book.

The story began with Colt warning us of what was to come and there were small notices of this throughout the story. In other books, I've often found this tedious, but the way Godgluck seamlessly wove them into the telling of the story practically had me hypnotised.

I actually ended up staying up all night – literally – to finish this story. I'd only intended to dip my toe in, to see how the story panned out and where it might lead, but I couldn't put it down. Every page had my captive, locked in the story and unable to think about anything else.

The story itself was a surprise for me. I've read some BDSM, Dom/sub stories, but this one blew them all out of the water. The detail, the depth and the way that no one proved infallible was addictive to read. The characters were so real and relateable. Through explorations of their past and their present day experiences, we see the cracks in each person and the prospects for their future.

The kink was real, sometimes raw and surprising, but always plausible and nothing felt out of place. The club, the people and the words all felt like they belonged and so did I, for a while. Reading that last line was heartbreaking. I cried a few times and will probably cry every single time I come back to read this story. Which I'll be doing often.

I can't wait to read more from these characters and the others from this story. I'll be waiting impatiently for my next fix.
